Siva Group’s S Tel adds one more strategic investor

New Delhi, 21 January, 2010: S Tel, the Telecom Company of the Chennai based Conglomerate Siva Group, announced today, BMIC Ltd (BMIC) intends to increase its stake in S Tel to 49%. BMIC, formed by Batelco has signed a strategic partnership with Global Banking Corporation B.S.C [C] (GBCORP) for this further investment in S-Tel.

Ranchi, 26 December, 2009: S Tel Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Siva Group (formerly Sterling Infotech Group) and BMIC Limited, a subsidiary of Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), today announced the commencement of services in Jharkhand within a day from launching its telecom services in Bihar and within a week of successfully launching in Himachal Pradesh and Odisha. Telecom circles for which S Tel has licenses are Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and North East. By first quarter of 2010, S Tel’s mobile services will be accessible to customers in Assam and North East.

Patna, 24 December, 2009: S Tel Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Siva Group (formerly Sterling Infotech Group) and BMIC Limited, a subsidiary of Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), today announced the commencement of services in Bihar within a week of successfully launching its telecom services in Himachal Pradesh and Odisha. Telecom circles for which S Tel has licences are Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and North East. By year end, S Tel’s mobile services will be available in Jharkhand and will be accessible to customers in Assam and North East by first quarter of 2010.

New Delhi, 17 November, 2009: S Tel Private Limited (S Tel), one of the new entrants in the Indian GSM space, today announced that it has accomplished a financial closure of its project with Rs. 2000 crores outlay, making it the first among the new telecom operators to have achieved the landmark.Eight leading public sector banks led by IDBI have come forward to provide the Rs. 953 crore long term funding of nine years to the company.

S Tel, a joint venture between Siva Group (formerly Sterling Infotech Group) and BMIC Limited, a subsidiary of Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), is looking at launching its services by year end in the largely unaddressed category C circle markets of Orissa, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, North East, Assam and J&K.

S Tel & Reliance Communications enter into a Telecom Infrastructure sharing agreement for towers, Transmission & Bulk Bandwidth

MUMBAI, 28 Aug 2009 : S Tel and Reliance Infratel have signed an end-to-end telecom infrastructure agreement for telecom towers, transmission for BTS sites and fibre backbone for intercity connectivity. Reliance Communications will execute this agreement through its tower subsidiary Reliance Infratel. S Tel’s agreement with Reliance Communications covers six circles - Orissa, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, North East, Assam and J&K where the telecom operator plans to roll-out its GSM services soon.

Sivasankaran acquires control of S Tel

Mumbai, 20 Jun 2009: Prominent investor C Sivasankaran has re-entered the fledgling Indian telecom industry by acquiring a 51% stake in Chennai-based telecom firm S Tel, three-and-a-half years after it pulled out of Aircel. The deal size is estimated to be around Rs 1,150 crore, said a person close to the development.
