How do I PORT IN to STel's Network ?
|
|
|
|
PORT IN is the Process, where you can avail the services of a New Mobile Operator. To avail the exciting services of STel, you need to visit the STel Retailer with the UPC Code & the Required Documents to change to STel.

What is a UPC Code. Can I use STel Services without UPC Code ?
|
|
|
|
UPC is a Unique Porting Code that you need to generate from your Mobile Number if you want to Port Out from your existing Operator and join S Tel’s Network. You simply need to send an SMS to 1900 and within seconds you will receive a 8 digit UPC Code which you have to carry to your nearest S Tel Retailer. UPC Code is mandatory without which you cannot use the same Mobile No. in S Tel’s Network.

I want to use STel Services. What Documents do I need to Provide ?

Coming to STel is very simple. You just have to provide :
- A Proof of Identity
- A Proof of Address
- A Photograph

What are the formalities that I need to complete with STel ?
|
|
|
|
It's again easy! You just need to furnish the Documents & fill up the Customer Application Form along with the 'Port IN' Request Form that the STel Retailer will provide you and help you with.

What are the charges for porting a number to STel ?
|
|
|
|
The charges are a nominal Rs 19, as of Now.
|
|
|
|
|
How long will it take to PORT IN my number to STel ?
|
|
|
|
It will take a maximum of 7 Days to change to STel Network. Other Operators also take the same time.
|
|
|
|
|
What do I need to keep in mind before joining STel ?
|
|
|
|
Postpaid customers cannot port in/out if they have overdue bills. All existing credit available to Prepaid customers will expire upon successful porting and will not be carried forward. Call charges, plans and VAS offered by your previous Operator will be cancelled, but you will enjoy better services in STel.

|
|

When can I make a porting request ?
|
|
|
|
You are eligible to make a porting request if you have:
- An active connection that is at least 90 days old (as counted from the date of new
activation or the last port date)
- No payments outstanding to the donor operator (operator that you are leaving)
- No requests pending for change of ownership of the number
|
|
|
|
|
Where can I find a STel MNP form ?
|
|
|

MNP forms are available along with the Customer Application Form with all STel Retailers.

I am using a Postpaid Connection of other Operator. Can I use STel Network ?

Yes, you can surely use S Tel Network. Before you Port In, please clear all outstanding payments of your Postpaid Connection

Yes, new STel SIM card will be issued to you when you make your porting requests.

What will happen to the contacts and messages stored in my old SIM card ?

You will have to take a back up of the contacts and the messages stored in the old SIM card before making the Port in request. Stel will not be able to transfer these to the new SIM card.

How long will I be without service while my existing SIM card is deactivated and my STel SIM card is activated ?
|
|
|
|
The maximum period of ‘No Service’ is two hours as defined by the regulator.
|
|
|

If a subscriber ports to STel Network and makes a call, which number will actually appear on the receiver’s mobile phone?
|

|
|
The existing mobile number of the subscriber will appear on the receiver’s mobile phone, but The Caller will enjoy the services of STel.

Can I decide the date and time on which the number will be ported in STel ?
|
|
|
|
No, the date and time cannot be determined by the requesting customer as upon receiving the Porting Request, we will send it for processing. You will be informed once the porting validation is completed and the new SIM card is activated.

Can a number be ported more than once?
|
|
|
|
Yes, but only after completing at least 90 days (from activation) with the existing operator.

Can a subscriber cancel a porting request? How?
|
|

Yes. The subscriber can cancel the porting request by giving a request in writing to the recipient operator within 24 Hrs.

How can S Tel subscribers port their number to other operators ?
|
|
|
|
They must approach the recipient operator and make a porting request.
|
|
|
|
|
What are the charges for porting a number out of STel ?
|
|
|
|
There are no charges for Porting out, However port in charges are max Rs 19 as fixed by TRAI.
